Senior Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to lead innovative formulation development projects. This hybrid role offers a blend of laboratory-based work in Wolverhampton and remote flexibility for data analysis and reporting. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing novel drug delivery systems and formulations, ensuring product stability, efficacy, and manufacturability. This senior position is critical for advancing our client's pipeline and requires a deep understanding of pharmaceutical sciences and product development challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute formulation development studies for various dosage forms (e.g., oral solids, injectables, topical).
• Optimize formulations to enhance bioavailability, stability, and patient compliance.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including characterization of APIs and excipients.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for characterizing formulations and drug release.
• Troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing process issues, providing expert technical support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analytical development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Proven expertise in a wide range of dosage forms and formulation technologies.
• Strong understanding of physicochemical properties , drug delivery systems, and excipient science.
• Experience with analytical techniques for formulation characterization (e.g., DSC, TGA, XRD, dissolution testing).
• Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to lead projects.
