About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Pharmaceutical Process Chemist to join their innovative R&D team in Oxford . This role is pivotal in developing and optimizing chemical synthesis routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). You will be responsible for designing scalable, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing processes, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned chemist with a strong understanding of organic synthesis and process development to contribute to the creation of life-changing medicines and advance their career within a leading pharmaceutical organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize synthetic routes for the efficient and scalable production of APIs.
- Conduct laboratory experiments to investigate reaction mechanisms, optimize reaction conditions, and identify potential impurities.
- Develop and implement robust analytical methods for in-process control and final product characterization.
- Perform process safety assessments and ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Transfer developed processes to manufacturing sites, providing technical support during scale-up.
- Collaborate with analytical development, formulation, and regulatory teams to ensure seamless project progression.
Requirements
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in process chemistry , with a significant portion within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and scaling up complex synthetic processes.
- Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in modern synthetic organic chemistry techniques and analytical instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, NMR, MS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, cross-functional environment.
