About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Pharmaceutical Scientist to join their dynamic drug discovery team based in the heart of London . This pivotal role involves driving innovative research initiatives aimed at identifying and validating novel therapeutic targets. You will play a crucial part in shaping the early-stage pipeline, contributing to the development of groundbreaking medicines that address unmet patient needs. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct complex laboratory experiments in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
• Design and synthesize novel small molecules with therapeutic potential.
• Develop and optimize drug candidates, evaluating their pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties.
• Collaborate closely with biologists, toxicologists, and formulation scientists to advance drug programs.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings to project teams and senior management.
• Contribute to the intellectual property strategy through patent filings and publications.

Requirements

• PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical drug discovery.
• Proven track record in the design, synthesis, and optimization of small molecule drug candidates.
• Extensive experience with modern synthetic organic chemistry techniques and analytical methods (NMR, MS, HPLC).
• Strong understanding of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics (DMPK), and preclinical development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting scientific data.
