About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Polymer Chemist to join their innovative Scientific Research & Development team based in Bradford . This role is pivotal in driving forward the development of novel polymeric materials for a range of advanced applications. You will be instrumental in designing synthesis routes, characterizing polymer structures and properties, and scaling up production processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical background in polymer science, coupled with practical laboratory experience and a passion for translating scientific concepts into tangible solutions. You will work in a state-of-the-art facility, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to push the boundaries of material science.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel polymers with tailored properties for specific applications.
• Characterize polymer structure, molecular weight, thermal properties, and mechanical performance using advanced analytical techniques (e.g., GPC, DSC, TGA, FTIR, NMR).
• Optimize polymerization processes for efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Collaborate with engineers and product development teams to integrate new polymers into product designs.
• Conduct literature reviews and stay updated on the latest advancements in polymer science and technology.
• Troubleshoot experimental issues and provide technical guidance to junior chemists.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field with a focus on polymers.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in polymer synthesis, characterization, and processing.
• Proficiency with various polymerization techniques (e.g., free radical, condensation, living polymerization).
• Strong understanding of polymer characterization methods and instrumentation.
• Experience with material testing and performance evaluation is essential.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong written and verbal communication skills.
