About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Power Electronics Engineer for a fully remote position, ideally based near Sunderland or anywhere in the UK . This role is critical for the advancement of our client's innovative power solutions. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of power electronic converter designs, from conceptualization and simulation to hardware implementation and testing. Working within a world-class remote engineering team, you will leverage your deep technical expertise to tackle challenging problems and contribute to state-of-the-art products. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to lead complex projects and drive technological innovation without the need for physical office presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize high-efficiency power electronic converters (e.g., DC-DC, AC-DC, DC-AC) for various applications.
- Perform detailed simulations and analyses using tools like SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, and PLECS to validate designs.
- Develop control algorithms and firmware for power electronic systems.
- Specify components, manage bill of materials (BOM), and liaise with suppliers to ensure quality and availability.
- Conduct hands-on testing and validation of prototypes in a home laboratory or at designated testing facilities, adhering to safety protocols.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in a remote setup, providing technical leadership and mentorship on power electronics design and troubleshooting in Tyne and Wear .
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the design and development of power electronic systems.
- Extensive experience with simulation software and familiarity with PCB layout tools.
- Deep understanding of semiconductor devices, magnetic components, and passive components used in power electronics.
- Proven ability to manage projects independently and communicate effectively in a remote team environment.
- Demonstrated success in bringing complex power electronic designs from concept to production.
