About the Role
Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join their research and development team in Cambridge . This role involves the design, simulation, and testing of advanced power electronic converters and systems for next-generation applications. You will be instrumental in driving innovation in areas such as high-frequency conversion, energy efficiency, and novel topologies. The ideal candidate possesses a deep theoretical understanding and practical experience in power electronics, contributing to a company renowned for its cutting-edge research and development in a dynamic technological landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-performance power electronic converters (e.g., AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC).
- Perform detailed circuit simulations and analysis using industry-standard software.
- Select appropriate semiconductor devices (e.g., SiC, GaN) and passive components.
- Develop and execute test plans for validating converter performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing power electronic designs for efficiency and power density.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in power electronics technology and recommend new approaches.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of power electronic circuits.
- Proficiency in power electronics simulation software (e.g., PLECS, LTspice, PSpice).
- In-depth knowledge of semiconductor devices, gate drive circuits, and control strategies.
- Experience with high-voltage or high-power converter design is essential.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to publish research findings.
