About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join their leading-edge, remote-first engineering team, supporting projects nationwide, including those in Oxford . This role is critical for the design, development, and optimisation of high-efficiency power conversion systems. You will be instrumental in developing innovative solutions for electric vehicles, renewable energy, and advanced industrial applications, working with state-of-the-art technologies. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced power electronic converters (e.g., DC-DC, AC-DC, inverters) for various applications.
- Perform detailed circuit design, simulation, and component selection for power stage and control circuits.
- Develop control algorithms and implement them on digital signal processors (DSPs) or microcontrollers.
- Conduct thermal analysis and ensure the reliability and robustness of power electronic designs.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on thermal management solutions and system integration.
- Lead testing, validation, and troubleshooting of power electronic prototypes and systems.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in the design and development of power electronic systems.
- In-depth knowledge of semiconductor devices (SiC, GaN), magnetic components, and passive components.
- Proficiency with power electronics simulation software (e.g., PLECS, SPICE, ANSYS).
- Experience with digital control implementation and embedded systems programming.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication abilities.
