About the Role
Our client, a leading consultancy in the energy sector , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their esteemed team in Reading . This vital role involves undertaking complex power system studies, providing expert technical advice, and contributing to the design and planning of robust and reliable electrical networks. You will be instrumental in ensuring the stability and efficiency of power infrastructure for a variety of clients, including utilities, developers, and industrial operators. The ideal candidate will possess deep analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of power system dynamics, protection, and control.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, stability, and arc flash analyses.
- Develop and implement protection schemes and settings for generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
- Contribute to the design and specification of high-voltage electrical equipment and substations.
- Provide expert technical consultancy and recommendations to clients on power system planning and operation.
- Review and approve electrical designs and technical documentation submitted by other engineers and contractors.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their technical development and contribution to project success.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in power system analysis and design within the energy industry .
- Proficiency in using power system simulation software such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or ETAP.
- Strong understanding of power system dynamics, protection principles, and grid codes.
- Experience with HV/MV equipment, substation design, and commissioning is essential.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and client-facing communication skills required for projects in Reading .
