Senior Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their globally distributed engineering team, operating remotely from anywhere within the UK, but with strong connections to Plymouth, Devon . This senior role will involve the design, analysis, and optimization of complex power systems, contributing to major infrastructure projects and renewable energy initiatives. You will lead technical efforts, mentor other engineers, and contribute significantly to the strategic direction of the company's power solutions, all while benefiting from the autonomy and flexibility of a fully remote work setup.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of high-voltage power systems, including transmission and distribution networks.
• Develop load flow, short-circuit, and stability studies using specialized power system software.
• Evaluate and recommend protection schemes, equipment specifications, and system upgrades.
• Contribute to project planning, feasibility studies, and the development of technical proposals.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior power systems engineers.
• Ensure all designs and analyses comply with national and international power system standards.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Extensive experience in power system analysis, design, and simulation.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Deep understanding of power generation, transmission, distribution, and protection principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
