Senior Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their expanding team in Norwich . This role is central to the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical power systems for a variety of energy infrastructure projects. You will lead complex studies, provide technical direction, and ensure the reliability and efficiency of power grids. The ideal candidate possesses a deep technical understanding of power system principles and a proven ability to manage challenging engineering tasks, contributing to the development of robust energy solutions in East Anglia.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed power flow, short circuit, and stability studies for transmission and distribution networks.
• Develop protection schemes and settings for substation equipment.
• Design and specify electrical infrastructure, including transformers, switchgear, and cabling.
• Contribute to the planning and integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support project management activities.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in power systems.
• Significant professional experience (e.g., 7+ years) in power system analysis and design.
• Proficiency with power system simulation software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, DigSilent PowerFactory).
• Strong understanding of protection relays and coordination studies.
• Knowledge of power system planning standards and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
