Senior Process Chemist - Pharmaceutical Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Chemist to join their pharmaceutical development team in Bradford . This role is critical for optimizing and scaling up chemical synthesis routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). You will be responsible for developing robust, safe, and efficient manufacturing processes that meet stringent regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale-up chemical synthesis processes for APIs from laboratory to pilot plant and manufacturing scales.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety protocols to ensure safe operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during process development and scale-up activities.
• Characterize intermediates and final products using analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, NMR, and MS.
• Write detailed process descriptions, batch records, and technical reports for regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with engineering, analytical development, and quality assurance teams to ensure successful technology transfer and GMP compliance.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in process chemistry within the pharmaceutical industry .
• Strong understanding of synthetic organic chemistry principles and reaction mechanisms.
• Experience with process scale-up, optimization, and technology transfer.
• Proficiency in using analytical instrumentation for chemical characterization.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements.
