Senior Process Chemist - Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Chemist to enhance their pharmaceutical manufacturing operations in Plymouth . This role is vital for optimizing and scaling up chemical processes involved in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and drug products. You will leverage your expertise in synthetic chemistry and process development to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance. Working in a hybrid model, you will combine hands-on laboratory and plant work with strategic remote planning and analysis, contributing significantly to the company's manufacturing excellence in Devon.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale-up chemical synthesis routes for APIs and intermediates.
• Conduct process hazard assessments and implement robust safety measures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to chemical processes.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth technology transfer.
• Maintain detailed records of experiments, process development, and validation activities.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process chemistry within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and process development principles.
• Experience with process analytical technology (PAT) and statistical process control (SPC) is desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
