Senior Process Design Engineer - Speciality Chemicals

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Design Engineer with expertise in specialty chemicals . This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the UK. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative chemical processes for new and existing specialty chemical products. Your role will involve detailed process design, equipment specification, and ensuring designs meet stringent safety, environmental, and economic requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of process designs for specialty chemical manufacturing, from conceptualization through to detailed engineering.
• Perform process simulations, heat and material balances, and P&ID development for complex chemical systems.
• Specify process equipment, including reactors, distillation columns, filters, and pumps, considering specialty chemical properties.
• Conduct process safety reviews and ensure compliance with relevant environmental and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Provide technical support during the commissioning and start-up phases of new plants or process modifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in process design engineering, with a significant focus on specialty chemicals.
• Strong proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and P&ID drafting tools.
• Experience with process intensification technologies and advanced separation techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to manage design projects independently in a remote setting.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
