About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Design Engineer to join their leading engineering consultancy in Reading . This role involves the conceptualization and detailed design of chemical processes for a diverse range of industrial clients. You will be responsible for developing innovative and cost-effective solutions, ensuring designs meet technical, safety, and environmental requirements. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned engineer to work on challenging projects, lead design teams, and contribute to the development of state-of-the-art chemical facilities, working in a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of process designs from conceptualization through to detailed engineering.
- Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
- Perform process simulations and calculations, including mass and energy balances.
- Conduct technical reviews and provide expert input on process design and optimization.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in process design activities.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in process design, preferably within an engineering consultancy or EPC environment.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus).
- Strong understanding of unit operations , thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Experience with HAZOP studies and safety design principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
