Senior Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Process Design Engineer to join their prestigious engineering team in Edinburgh . This is a critical on-site role focused on the conceptualization and detailed design of complex chemical processes and facilities. You will be responsible for leading design phases, ensuring technical integrity, and collaborating with project teams to deliver innovative solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform detailed process design calculations, including mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and hydraulic analysis.
• Specify process equipment such as reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, and distillation columns.
• Conduct process safety reviews, including HAZOP studies, to identify and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards, codes, and client specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process design engineering, preferably within the petrochemical or pharmaceutical sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of process simulation software and design tools.
• Proven experience in leading design packages and managing project deliverables.
• Strong understanding of process safety management and risk assessment techniques.
• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
