About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Development Scientist to join their innovative biologics manufacturing team in Sheffield . This role is critical in optimizing and scaling up the upstream and downstream processes for the production of therapeutic proteins and antibodies. You will be responsible for designing and executing experiments to improve process yield, purity, and robustness, while ensuring compliance with GMP regulations. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in biochemical engineering or biotechnology, with hands-on experience in cell culture, purification techniques, and process scale-up. You will work within a dynamic team dedicated to bringing life-changing biologic therapies to market efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize upstream (cell culture) and downstream (purification) processes for biologics manufacturing.
- Design and execute laboratory-scale experiments to improve process performance, yield, and product quality.
- Perform process characterization studies and risk assessments to ensure robustness and scalability.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs teams to ensure successful process transfer and validation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges encountered during process development and scale-up activities.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development for biologics manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with bioreactor operations, mammalian cell culture, and protein purification techniques (e.g., chromatography, filtration).
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software and Design of Experiments (DoE).
- Understanding of GMP principles and regulatory requirements for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
