Senior Process Development Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Development Scientist to lead the optimization and scale-up of chemical synthesis processes at their facility in Bradford . This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient, safe, and robust manufacturing of key chemical intermediates and products. You will work closely with R&D chemists, engineers, and manufacturing teams to translate laboratory procedures into commercially viable processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in process chemistry and a proven ability to troubleshoot and improve complex chemical operations. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for scale-up, focusing on safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate control measures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during process development and manufacturing.
• Collaborate with analytical chemists to develop and validate in-process controls and analytical methods.
• Prepare detailed process descriptions, batch records, and technical reports for internal and regulatory use.
• Mentor and guide junior scientists and engineers in process development activities.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process chemistry or chemical process development.
• Strong understanding of organic chemistry, reaction kinetics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with process scale-up, pilot plant operations, and manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in process safety principles and hazard assessment.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong technical communication skills.
