Senior Process Development Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Development Scientist to join their R&D division in Norwich . This hybrid role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and optimization of novel chemical processes, bridging the gap between laboratory research and pilot-scale production. You will work collaboratively with a dedicated team of scientists and engineers, employing innovative approaches to solve complex challenges. The role requires a blend of scientific expertise and practical engineering application, with the flexibility to contribute both remotely and on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and analysis of experiments for process development and optimization.
• Scale-up chemical processes from laboratory to pilot plant and potentially to commercial scale.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for process monitoring and product characterization.
• Troubleshoot process issues and identify solutions to improve yield, purity, and efficiency.
• Write detailed technical reports, research summaries, and contribute to patent applications.
• Mentor junior scientists and technicians, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and innovation.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering , or a related scientific discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in process development, scale-up, or hands-on R&D in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong background in organic synthesis, reaction kinetics, or separation science.
• Experience with analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, NMR, MS).
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DoE).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, suitable for a hybrid working model.
