Senior Process Development Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Development Scientist to join their innovative team in Derby . This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, providing a balance between on-site laboratory work and remote responsibilities. You will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and scaling up manufacturing processes for novel therapeutic products. This position requires a strong understanding of bioprocessing, chemical engineering principles, and a proven ability to translate laboratory-scale processes to pilot and manufacturing scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to optimize bioprocesses, focusing on yield, purity, and robustness.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for process monitoring and product characterization.
• Scale up processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial manufacturing scales.
• Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective actions.
• Document all development activities thoroughly, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

• MSc or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Strong knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes (e.g., upstream, downstream, formulation).
• Experience with process analytical technology (PAT) and statistical process control (SPC).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
