About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Process Engineer with expertise in chemical energy applications to join their innovative research and development team in Bristol . This hybrid role will involve the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes for energy storage and conversion technologies. You will be instrumental in driving forward new developments in areas such as hydrogen production, advanced biofuels, and synthetic fuels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering principles and a passion for sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop new chemical processes for energy-related applications, including process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Optimize existing chemical processes to improve efficiency, yield, safety, and environmental performance.
- Conduct pilot plant trials and scale-up studies to validate process designs and gather operational data.
- Perform process simulations and modeling using specialized software to predict performance and identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with research scientists, mechanical engineers, and project managers to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure all process designs comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process design, development, and optimization within the chemical or energy industries.
- Strong understanding of chemical thermodynamics , reaction kinetics, and separation processes.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
- Experience with energy storage or conversion technologies (e.g., fuel cells, batteries, electrolysis) is highly desirable.
