About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to lead process design and optimisation for hydrogen production facilities in the Oxford area. This critical role involves developing, scaling, and troubleshooting processes for both green and blue hydrogen production, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including chemical engineers, project managers, and R&D specialists, to deliver state-of-the-art hydrogen solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the process design and development of hydrogen production units (e.g., electrolysis, steam methane reforming).
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and mass/energy balances.
- Conduct process simulations and optimisation studies to enhance efficiency, yield, and safety.
- Perform hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and risk assessments for new and existing processes.
- Specify process equipment, including reactors, separators, compressors, and heat exchangers.
- Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and operational phases of hydrogen production plants.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering, with a strong focus on chemical processing or energy industries.
- Proven experience in designing and operating hydrogen production technologies or related syngas processes.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and process safety management (PSM).
