Senior Process Engineer - Specialty Chemicals

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer with a specialization in Specialty Chemicals to join their team in Edinburgh . This role is vital for optimizing and troubleshooting complex chemical processes that produce high-value specialty products. You will apply advanced engineering principles to improve efficiency, product quality, and operational safety, working on challenging projects that require innovative solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of processes for specialty chemical manufacturing.
• Conduct detailed process analyses, including mass and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs development.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve product yield, purity, and consistency.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality control teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in process engineering, with significant exposure to specialty chemicals.
• Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation technologies relevant to specialty chemicals.
• Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Experience with HAZOP studies and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
