Senior Process Engineer - Upstream Oil & Gas

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their Edinburgh-based team, working on complex upstream oil and gas projects. This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of processing facilities, ensuring efficient and safe hydrocarbon handling. You will play a key part in conceptual studies, FEED, and detailed design phases, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This hybrid position offers a valuable blend of in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility, allowing you to contribute effectively to critical projects within Scotland's energy sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in process design and simulation for oil and gas facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process design packages, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications for upstream facilities.
• Perform process simulations using industry-standard software (e.g., HYSYS, Aspen Plus) to optimize designs.
• Conduct hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Optimize existing plant performance to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety.
• Collaborate with project management, mechanical, and instrumentation engineers on integrated project delivery.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within the upstream oil and gas industry.
• Strong understanding of oil and gas separation, treatment, and gas processing technologies .
• Proficiency in process simulation software and PFD/P&ID development.
• Experience with HAZOP analysis and other safety assessment methodologies.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, suited for a hybrid working arrangement in Edinburgh .
