Senior Process Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Engineer to join their team in Plymouth . This role is integral to the design, development, and optimization of chemical and industrial processes. You will be responsible for ensuring that processes are safe, efficient, environmentally sound, and economically viable. Working from our Plymouth facility, you will collaborate with a team of skilled engineers and technicians, contributing to the success of key projects and plant operations through expert process design and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform process design calculations, including mass and energy balances, and equipment sizing.
• Conduct process simulations using industry-standard software.
• Optimize existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance safety.
• Prepare technical specifications for process equipment and instrumentation.
• Provide technical support to plant operations and assist in troubleshooting process issues.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics , fluid mechanics, and unit operations.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD).
• Experience with HAZOP studies and other process safety methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a project-driven environment.
