Senior Process Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leading force in the Oil & Gas industry , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Engineer to join their distributed engineering team, working remotely from Derby, Derbyshire . This role is central to the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex process systems for upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. You will leverage your expertise in process simulation, P&ID development, and HAZOP analysis to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of hydrocarbon processing facilities. This is a remote-first opportunity, allowing you to contribute from anywhere while collaborating with a global network of engineers and project stakeholders on innovative energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform process simulations and calculations for unit operations, including separation, heat transfer, and reaction engineering.
• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP studies.
• Conduct equipment sizing and specification, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and vessels.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and optimize process performance for efficiency and safety.
• Provide technical support to project teams, construction, and operations personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., HYSYS, Aspen Plus) and design tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mass transfer principles.
• Experience in HAZOP facilitation and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proven ability in remote collaboration.
