About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Process Safety Engineer to enhance the safety culture and operational integrity of their facilities. This hybrid role, based in Belfast , involves working closely with operational teams both on-site and remotely to identify, assess, and mitigate process safety risks. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all operations meet the highest standards of safety and environmental protection. This is a vital position within the oil and gas sector , offering the chance to implement robust safety management systems and drive continuous improvement in process safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Perform safety-critical equipment verifications and manage Mechanical Integrity programs.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide technical expertise and training on process safety principles and regulatory requirements to operational staff.
- Audit site operations to ensure compliance with company policies and relevant industry standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the oil and gas or chemical industries .
- Strong understanding of PHA methodologies, risk assessment techniques, and safety case preparation.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across different levels of the organization, in both on-site and remote settings.
