About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Derby, Derbyshire . This critical role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operations, safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment. You will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of process safety management systems. Working closely with engineering, operations, and management teams, you will provide expert guidance on risk assessment, hazard mitigation, and regulatory compliance. This is a vital position for an experienced safety professional within a key industrial area of the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards in Derby .
- Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and practices to engineers and operational staff.
- Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure inherent safety and risk reduction measures are integrated effectively for Derbyshire facilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in process safety engineering within the chemical, oil & gas, or petrochemical industries.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, risk assessment techniques, and safety case preparation.
- Experience with safety-related instrumentation (SIS) and management of change (MOC) processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead safety initiatives across the Derby site.
