Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and expert Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their expanding operations, working remotely from Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety are implemented and maintained across all facilities and projects. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and auditing safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a robust safety culture throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive process safety management (PSM) systems in line with industry best practices and regulations.
• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, HAZID, and LOPA studies.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections, identify non-compliance issues, and develop corrective action plans.
• Review engineering designs, P&IDs, and operational procedures for safety integrity.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend preventative measures.
• Provide training and guidance on process safety principles to engineers and operational staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering within the oil and gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards (e.g., Seveso Directive, OSHA PSM), and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience with safety software and consequence modeling tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
