Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Engineer to bolster their safety initiatives at their facility in Leeds . This critical role ensures that all chemical processes and operations adhere to the highest standards of safety, minimizing risks and protecting personnel, the environment, and assets. You will play a key part in developing and implementing robust safety management systems and driving a proactive safety culture across the organization. This hybrid position allows for strategic planning and analysis to be conducted remotely, coupled with essential on-site assessments and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Investigate process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations (e.g., COMAH), and company policies.
• Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and best practices.
• Review engineering designs and management of change (MOC) processes for safety implications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably in the chemical or manufacturing industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, hazard assessment techniques, and safety systems.
• Experience with risk assessment software and incident investigation methodologies.
• Strong understanding of relevant safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
