About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Process Safety Engineer to bolster their safety assurance team in Leeds . This critical role focuses on ensuring the integrity and safety of complex chemical and energy processing facilities through robust hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of effective safety management systems. You will provide expert guidance on process safety regulations and best practices, playing a key part in safeguarding personnel, the environment, and company assets. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies , Hazard Identification (HAZID), and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
- Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform quantitative risk assessments (QRA) to evaluate potential consequences and likelihood of hazardous events.
- Review process designs, modifications, and operating procedures for inherent safety and compliance with safety standards.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers and operational staff on process safety principles.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering , preferably within the chemical, petrochemical, or energy industries.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety regulations (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM) and international standards.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessment techniques such as HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL.
- Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and safety integrity level (SIL) assessments.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex safety information.
