Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their dynamic team in Aberdeen . This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of process safety are implemented and maintained across all operations, particularly within the challenging offshore energy sector. You will play a critical part in mitigating risks, developing safety strategies, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization, working collaboratively with engineering, operations, and management to uphold our client's commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs) , Hazard Identification (HAZID), and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Provide expert guidance and technical support on process safety aspects for new projects and modifications.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, standards, and legislation concerning process safety.
• Mentor and develop junior process safety engineers and contribute to the overall technical growth of the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering, with a significant portion within the oil and gas or energy industry .
• Proven expertise in conducting and leading various risk assessment techniques like HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL.
• In-depth knowledge of international process safety standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, IEC 61511, DNVGL standards).
• Strong understanding of safety-critical equipment, relief systems, and emergency response planning.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
