Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Safety Engineer to champion safety excellence within their operations in Belfast . This hybrid role involves ensuring the highest standards of process safety are maintained across all plant activities, from design through to operation and maintenance. You will lead safety studies, develop risk management strategies, and provide expert guidance to engineering and operational teams. This position is critical for maintaining regulatory compliance and safeguarding personnel and the environment, contributing significantly to a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop, implement, and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and programs.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
• Provide technical expertise on safety aspects of new projects and process modifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM regulations (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR ) and industry best practices.
• Proven experience in facilitating PHAs and conducting risk assessments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid model.
