About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their dedicated safety team based in Liverpool . This crucial role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operational facilities within the oil and gas industry . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing process safety management systems, conducting hazard analyses, and driving a robust safety culture. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of process safety principles and regulations, with a proven ability to manage complex safety challenges in a demanding operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in line with regulatory requirements (e.g., COMAH, OSHA).
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies to identify and assess risks associated with plant operations.
- Develop and review safety critical procedures, including management of change (MOC), pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR), and emergency response plans.
- Oversee and conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety matters to engineering, operations, and project teams.
- Champion a strong safety culture through training, communication, and proactive engagement with site personnel.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering , preferably within the oil, gas, or chemical industries .
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety principles, standards, and methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, SIL).
- Experience with safety software and risk assessment tools.
- Strong understanding of relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
