About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead safety initiatives at their facility in Bristol . This critical role involves ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all operations, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with stringent regulations. You will be responsible for managing and executing a range of safety studies, including HAZOPs, LOPAs, and risk assessments, as well as developing and implementing robust safety management systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in process safety engineering principles and a proven ability to influence and guide operational teams towards a strong safety culture. This position offers a chance to significantly enhance safety performance in a key industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and consequence modeling.
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to engineering and operations personnel.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and ensure permits and licenses are maintained.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical or process industries.
- Expert knowledge of process safety standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, COMAH).
- Proficiency in quantitative risk assessment (QRA) and layer of protection analysis (LOPA).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional safety certifications (e.g., CSP) are highly desirable.
