Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their operations team based in Belfast . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety across all their facilities, mitigating risks associated with hazardous operations in the oil and gas sector . You will be responsible for implementing and managing robust safety management systems, conducting hazard identification studies, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations. Your expertise will be vital in protecting personnel, assets, and the environment from potential process-related incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Oversee the design and implementation of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and other safety controls.
• Perform safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Provide training and guidance to operational staff on process safety best practices.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the oil and gas industry or petrochemicals.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety regulations, standards (e.g., Seveso Directive, OSHA PSM), and methodologies.
• Proven experience in conducting various types of PHAs and understanding their outcomes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
