Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their operations team in Leeds . This critical role focuses on ensuring the safe design, operation, and maintenance of industrial processes within the energy sector. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust safety management systems, conducting hazard identification studies, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Your expertise will be vital in preventing incidents and protecting personnel, assets, and the environment, contributing to a strong safety culture across all sites and projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and HAZID studies.
• Develop and implement Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and verification processes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for safety-critical modifications.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to operational and engineering staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering within the oil, gas, or chemical industries.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards (e.g., COMAH, Seveso Directive) and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
