Senior Production Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Production Chemist to join their team in Portsmouth . This role is integral to optimizing the chemical processes involved in their oil and gas operations, ensuring efficient production and maintaining product quality. You will be responsible for analyzing production streams, developing and implementing chemical treatment programs, troubleshooting production chemistry challenges, and contributing to research and development efforts aimed at enhancing operational performance and asset integrity. This position requires a deep understanding of chemistry as applied to the energy sector and a commitment to innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze production fluids (oil, gas, water) to monitor chemical composition and identify potential issues.
• Develop, implement, and optimize chemical injection strategies for asset integrity and production enhancement.
• Troubleshoot complex production chemistry problems, recommending and implementing effective solutions.
• Conduct laboratory testing and research to evaluate new production chemicals and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to chemical usage and discharge.
• Prepare technical reports, present findings, and collaborate with field operations and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in production chemistry within the oil and gas industry .
• Strong knowledge of corrosion, scale, paraffin, and emulsion chemistry relevant to upstream operations.
• Experience with chemical treatment programs and performance monitoring.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques and laboratory instrumentation.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and clear communication skills.
