Senior Production Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Production Chemist to join their team in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK . This role is integral to ensuring the efficient and safe chemical management and process optimization within their Oil & Gas operations . You will be responsible for analyzing and troubleshooting chemical challenges, developing and implementing improved chemical treatment programs, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in physical chemistry, analytical techniques, and a deep understanding of chemical applications in the upstream and midstream sectors of the Oil & Gas industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize chemical treatment programs for oil and gas production facilities.
• Analyze production fluids to monitor water quality, identify scaling, corrosion, and emulsion issues.
• Troubleshoot chemical-related production problems and recommend effective solutions.
• Conduct laboratory testing and field trials to evaluate new chemical products and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations regarding chemical usage and disposal.
• Collaborate with field operations and engineering teams to provide technical support and training on chemical management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Production Chemist or similar role in the Oil & Gas industry .
• Strong understanding of fluid chemistry, water treatment, corrosion inhibition, and emulsion breaking.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques and laboratory instrumentation relevant to oilfield chemistry.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with geochemical modeling software and data interpretation.
