About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Production Chemist to join their operational team in Belfast . This role is critical for ensuring the efficient and safe production of oil and gas by managing and optimizing the chemical processes involved. You will be responsible for monitoring chemical treatment programs, troubleshooting production chemistry issues, and implementing solutions to enhance recovery and maintain asset integrity. This is a significant opportunity for an experienced chemist to contribute to the success of major projects within the oil and gas sector in Northern Ireland .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor chemical treatment programs for production facilities, injection systems, and pipelines to prevent corrosion, scale, and other production-related issues.
- Analyze production fluid samples to assess chemistry conditions, identify potential problems, and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Troubleshoot production chemistry challenges, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Evaluate and recommend new chemical technologies and vendors to improve production efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Collaborate with production engineers, reservoir engineers, and operations personnel to ensure integrated solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, monitoring data, and treatment effectiveness, preparing regular reports.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in production chemistry within the upstream oil and gas industry .
- Strong knowledge of corrosion, scale, emulsion, and hydrate formation mechanisms and inhibition strategies.
- Proficiency in laboratory analysis techniques relevant to oilfield production chemistry.
- Experience with chemical injection systems and monitoring equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
