Senior Production Engineer - Automotive Manufacturing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly capable Senior Production Engineer to manage and optimize manufacturing processes within their automotive production facility in Wolverhampton . This role is critical to ensuring high-quality output, efficient operations, and continuous improvement on the production lines. You will be responsible for overseeing production methodologies, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and driving initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). This position offers a significant opportunity to shape manufacturing strategies and contribute to the success of a major automotive supplier.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize daily manufacturing operations to meet production targets for quality and volume.
• Implement and promote Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
• Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
• Develop and implement process improvements to reduce cycle times, costs, and waste.
• Manage and support the introduction of new products and processes into the manufacturing environment.
• Train and mentor production staff on best practices and new technologies.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience (7+ years) in production engineering within an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies.
• Experience with process improvement techniques and statistical process control (SPC).
• Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., IATF 16949).
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
