Senior Programme Officer - International Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Programme Officer to join their Manchester office, focusing on international development initiatives. This role involves the strategic design, implementation, and oversight of critical programmes aimed at creating sustainable social impact in developing countries. You will work collaboratively with in-country teams, partner organisations, and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery, resource management, and measurable outcomes. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and management of international development programmes from conception to completion.
• Oversee programme budgets, ensuring efficient allocation and responsible use of funds.
• Monitor programme performance, collect data, and conduct evaluations to assess impact and identify areas for improvement.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with international partners, government agencies, and other NGOs.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to in-country teams and local implementing partners.
• Contribute to proposal writing and fundraising efforts to secure continued funding for programmes.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent experience in International Development, Public Policy, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing complex international development projects or programmes.
• Strong understanding of development principles, challenges, and best practices.
• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and results-based management (RBM).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
• Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of a second language relevant to programme regions is an asset.
