Senior Project Manager - Marine Engineering

About the Role

Our client, a leader in the maritime industry, is seeking a highly capable Senior Project Manager with extensive experience in Marine Engineering to join their team in Plymouth . This demanding role involves overseeing complex marine projects, from new builds and refits to specialized engineering tasks, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. You will manage project lifecycles, coordinate multidisciplinary teams of engineers and technicians, and liaise with clients and regulatory bodies. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of major marine engineering projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Ensure strict compliance with maritime regulations, safety standards (e.g., SOLAS), and client specifications.
• Lead and coordinate project teams comprising naval architects, engineers, surveyors, and contractors.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation, proactively addressing any deviations.
• Oversee risk management processes, identifying potential hazards and implementing robust mitigation strategies.
• Liaise effectively with ship owners, classification societies, regulatory authorities, and key stakeholders.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years' experience in Project Management within the marine engineering or shipbuilding sector.
• Strong technical background in naval architecture, marine engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale offshore or maritime projects.
• In-depth knowledge of marine classification society rules and international maritime regulations.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
