The Opportunity Our Client is one of the World leaders in the manufacture and Tier 1 supply of high-technology Multimedia products for the Automotive sector. We are now partnering them in trying to find an experienced customer and supplier facing Senior Quality Engineer, who has a strong fundamental understanding of Automotive Electronics on a permanent basis, in Buckinghamshire. On offer to the successful incumbent is a basic salary paying up to £55K pa, together with a full and comprehensive benefits package, to include use of the company electric pool car for site visits.
The Role
Based in the Sales Office in Buckinghamshire, as their Senior Quality Engineer you will act as the Company's quality contact for OEM and Tier 1 Automotive customers on 0km and warranty claims. You will carry out the initial review and analysis of claims data, coordinating with internal and supplier functions to establish root cause and corrective actions, and will discuss findings and quality/warranty performance directly with the customer. Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Will be responsible for the initial processing and analysis of 0km and warranty claims data received from OEM and Tier 1 customers.
- Review claims and returned-part data to understand volumes, trends and likely root cause, and works with internal departments and suppliers to secure appropriate interim and permanent corrective actions.
- Acts as the main point of contact for discussing quality and warranty performance with the customer, ensuring findings and corrective action plans are communicated within agreed timescales and in the customer's required format.
- Supports new product introduction from a quality perspective and promotes continuous improvement techniques across the business.
- Participate in the APQP and PPAP process for new product introduction, including test plan review and approval with the customer, PPAP folder preparation (MSA/SPC/supplier PPAP review), and PSW/PPAP checklist signoff.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching and day-to-day mentoring to Quality Engineers, supporting their development in quality tools, customer handling and problem solving.
- Lead and/or support groups of engineers on 0km and warranty investigations.
- Represent the Quality function at customer meetings, quality reviews and escalation meetings; deputise for the Quality Manager as required.
- Support customer visits to manufacturing sites and support customer quality reviews and audits. You will have the following qualifications & experience
- Should preferably be educated with a Manufacturing/Engineering Degree or equivalent or ONC, A Levels, BTEC Diploma Level 4 or equivalent, although plenty of relevant experience will be considered.
- Six Sigma Green Belt required as a minimum.
- You will be an experienced Senior Quality Engineer who has worked in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably Automotive.
- You will have a strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Should have Automotive Electronics knowledge, including electronics fault-finding and PCB manufacturing/assembly experience.
- Will have experience of working in Quality Assurance, including significant OEM/Tier 1 customer-facing experience.
- Will have experience of dealing with customers and suppliers. It’s great if you also have the following
- Membership of an industry-related professional body would be advantageous.
- Black Belt certified or working towards Black Belt is advantageous.
