Senior Quantity Surveyor – Freelance

Location: Derby City Centre Rate: £400 per day (approximately) Duration: Long-term freelance opportunity Start: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major new-build manufacturing facility project in Derby.

The successful candidate will have strong civil engineering, groundworks and new-build experience, ideally having worked on industrial or manufacturing developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Commercial management of a new-build manufacturing facility.

• Managing the commercial aspects of groundworks and civil engineering packages.

• Valuations, applications for payment and cost reporting.

• Managing variations, subcontractor accounts and payments.

• Procurement and management of subcontract packages.

• Cost forecasting and budget management.

• Working closely with the project and site teams.

• Managing commercial risks and identifying potential savings.

• Reviewing and agreeing subcontractor accounts.

• Supporting the delivery of drainage, foundations and associated groundworks.

• Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting.

Experience Required

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor.

• Strong civil engineering and groundworks background.

• Experience with drainage and foundations.

• Experience working on new-build industrial, manufacturing or similar facilities.

• Understanding of typical groundworks associated with large industrial sheds.

• Strong subcontractor and commercial management experience.

• Excellent communication skills with clear spoken English.

• Able to work independently and take ownership of the commercial function.

Project Information

• Initial project value: approximately £1m.

• New-build manufacturing facility.

• Further project anticipated within the next 12 months, with an estimated value of £2.5m.
