About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial and contractual aspects of major construction projects in Glasgow . This senior position requires a strategic thinker with a proven ability to manage complex contract negotiations, cost control, and dispute resolution. You will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success and profitability of projects, working closely with project directors and external consultants. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional commercial acumen and leadership within the Scottish construction sector.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the commercial management of significant construction projects, overseeing all aspects of cost, contract, and risk management.
Develop and negotiate main contracts and subcontracts, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
Manage and control project budgets, forecasting costs and ensuring profitability targets are met.
Resolve contractual disputes and claims efficiently and effectively, minimising financial and legal exposure.
Provide strategic commercial advice to project teams and senior management.
Mentor and develop junior quantity surveyors within the team, fostering a culture of commercial excellence.

Requirements

Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor , with a significant portion in a senior or lead role, ideally within a large contracting environment.
In-depth knowledge of UK construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT) and commercial practices.
Proven ability to manage complex financial information and deliver accurate cost reports.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management is essential.
Demonstrated experience in dispute resolution and claims management.
