Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their busy construction team based in Reading . This role is essential for managing project costs effectively throughout the entire project lifecycle, from procurement to final account settlement. You will be responsible for cost control, contract administration, and financial reporting, ensuring projects remain financially viable and profitable. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and a thorough understanding of construction contracts, working closely with project managers and clients to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all pre- and post-contract aspects of Quantity Surveying for assigned projects.
• Prepare and submit accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
• Administer construction contracts, including managing variations, claims, and disputes.
• Monitor project costs, track expenditure, and prepare regular financial reports for senior management.
• Negotiate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve cost-effective outcomes.
• Conduct final account settlements and ensure prompt payment processing.

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
• Substantial experience as a Quantity Surveyor , preferably with a main contractor or consultancy.
• Thorough knowledge of standard forms of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
• Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
