Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor - Monaghan & Cavan
A leading building contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team, working across a range of residential and commercial projects in Monaghan and Cavan.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to completion and final account. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the tendering, negotiation and appointment of subcontractors.
- Managing subcontractor packages from initial appointment through to final account.
- Taking ownership of all commercial matters and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
- Preparing and submitting valuations, variations and associated commercial documentation.
- Producing accurate monthly cost and commercial reports in line with project budgets.
- Working closely with Contracts Managers, Site Managers and project teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.
- Identifying potential cost issues and implementing appropriate commercial solutions.
- Supporting and mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors, helping to monitor their progress and develop their skills.
Experience & Skills
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A third-level degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- 8+ years' post-graduate experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
- Proven experience working on residential and commercial construction projects.
- Strong tendering and estimating skills, with proven experience in negotiating, agreeing and pricing variations.
- A solid working knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT, NEC and PWC.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- A high level of commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail.
