Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering
Exeter / Plymouth
£70k - £75,000 + £9000 Car Allowance + Annual Bonus
An established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, supporting the delivery of a growing portfolio of major civil engineering projects across Devon and Cornwall
We are looking for candidates with experience building Reservoirs, Flood Alleviation schemes, Bridges, Structures and Highways projects. A strong civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, utilities, heavy civils or similar contracting backgrounds.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take commercial responsibility for circa £50m of projects, working closely with your commercial and design counterparts.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing the commercial performance of civil engineering projects
Preparing and reviewing applications for payment, valuations and cost reports
Managing subcontractor procurement, accounts and payments
Identifying, assessing and managing variations and compensation events
Producing accurate forecasts and monitoring project cost and value
Supporting the management of contractual and commercial risk
Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and site teams
Providing commercial input throughout the project lifecycle
Supporting negotiations with clients and the supply chain
Ensuring contractual requirements and commercial procedures are followed
Contributing to monthly project and financial reviews
Mentoring and supporting less experienced members of the commercial team What We’re Looking For
For this Senior Quantity Surveyor position, the key requirement is a strong commercial background within civil engineering or infrastructure construction.
You’ll ideally have:
Proven Quantity Surveying experience within a civil engineering or construction environment
Good working knowledge of NEC
Experience of subcontract procurement and commercial management
Strong cost reporting, forecasting and financial management skills
A relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or construction-related qualification
Strong communication and negotiation skills What’s in it for you?
