About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly accomplished Senior Research Chemist with specialized knowledge in Catalysis to join their advanced R&D center in Derby . This role is central to the innovation and development of new catalytic processes that enhance efficiency and sustainability in chemical manufacturing. You will lead research projects, mentor junior chemists, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring novel catalytic solutions from the laboratory to industrial application. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of catalytic mechanisms and hands-on experience with catalyst synthesis and testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, synthesize, and characterize heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts.
- Investigate catalytic reaction mechanisms using a variety of analytical and spectroscopic techniques.
- Optimize catalyst performance for industrial processes, focusing on activity, selectivity, and stability.
- Scale-up catalyst synthesis and evaluation from lab to pilot plant scale.
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.
Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry, specializing in Inorganic or Physical Chemistry with a focus on Catalysis.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial or academic research experience in catalyst development.
- Expertise in catalyst synthesis, characterization (e.g., XRD, BET, TEM, spectroscopy), and reaction testing.
- Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and surface science.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead research projects.
