About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Research Chemist with a strong background in Process Development to join their dynamic research team in Derby . This crucial role will focus on optimizing and scaling up chemical synthesis routes to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing of key compounds. You will work closely with synthetic chemists and engineers to transition laboratory processes to pilot and commercial scales, driving innovation in chemical manufacturing. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and scale-up synthetic chemical processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety, environmental, and operational risks associated with chemical processes.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate control measures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during process development and scale-up activities.
- Author detailed process descriptions, validation reports, and technology transfer documentation.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process chemistry, process development, or scale-up in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong understanding of organic chemistry, reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer principles.
- Experience with process safety, HAZOP studies, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in using process simulation software and analytical techniques for process monitoring and control.
